How Do I... Track External Documents
Smart Contractor allows you to manage and track documents associated with a job, or with particular items in a job.
The documents can be of any type, for use with any other programs. For example, you can manage Word document (.doc) files, PDF (.pdf) files, Excel (.xls) files, scanned image files (.jpg, .gif, etc.), etc.
Documents can be attached and accessed by job, or by job item.
You attach to documents relating to a job in the Attachment tab of the Edit Job form.
You attach to documents relating to a job item in the Links tab of the Edit Estimate form.
Important: Document files must be located in a "network share folder" in order to be accessible from all computers on a network! Please consult your network administrator for assistance with setting up network share folders.
